Womens History Month Spotlight: Week Five

This Women's History Month, we're proud to spotlight incredible women who inspire us and create lasting impacts. This week, we’re highlighting two exceptionally motivated leaders: Jenn Christensen, Executive Director of Business Development at Managed Services IT, and Susan Hamley, Executive Director of Chester County Tourism.

Let’s take a moment this week to recognize and appreciate these women for their hard work and dedication.

Jenn Christensen

Her ability to build and maintain strategic relationships, combined with exceptional communication skills, allows her to connect with stakeholders and foster collaboration effectively. Jenn is dedicated to creating inclusive environments where ideas can thrive, ensuring everyone feels valued.

As an Ambassador for the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry (CCCBI), Jenn is committed to promoting business growth and championing inclusivity within the chamber community. She actively brings in new members and develops opportunities for collaboration and shared success. In addition to her role with CCCBI, she is an engaged member of the Western Chester County Chamber of Commerce and the International Facility Management Association (IFMA).  Jenn is a graduate of Texas A&M University with a double major in English and History with secondary certification.  Jenn is also an active member of the Alpha Chi Omega Sorority Alumnae.

Jenn’s inspiring journey is a testament to the resilience and determination of women who choose to reinvent themselves at any stage of life. After dedicating over 20 years to raising her 4 children—Julia, Colin, Lauren, and Kevin—Jenn successfully transitioned from a former career as a secondary educator and cheerleading coach to achieving success in business development and sales. Drawing upon her education background and experience as a Mom of 4, Jenn leverages her skills to forge meaningful connections and achieve impactful results, showcasing that it’s never too late to pursue a new career path.  In addition to her professional achievements, Jenn is featured in nationally televised Nutrafol commercials and prominently showcased on their website and social channels.  Jenn is a firm believer that embracing change can be a powerful opportunity to embrace a new chapter in life with amazing experiences.

Susan Hamley

An avid champion of tourism, Susan has promoted the powerful benefits of this industry for over 20 years. She has served as the Executive Director for Chester County Tourism for the past eleven-plus years.  In this role, she is accountable for the official Destination Management Organization for the County, with a Mission that aims to Improve the Quality of Life for Chester County residents & workers through the economic and community benefits of tourism. Chester County Tourism’s efforts generated over $1.5 Billion in Economic Impact and supported over 13,000 jobs in 2023 and that number is growing annually. ((Tourism Economics 2023)

Previously, Susan was the Director of Snowmass Tourism, a renowned ski resort and summer/fall mountain destination next to and branded with Aspen, Colorado, for 10 years. And prior to the high country, she ran a strategic event marketing company while in Minneapolis, which included directing Mill City Music Festival, a three-day event with six outdoor stages on nine blocks in the Minneapolis Warehouse District, featuring ‘local’ headliner The Artist Formerly Known As Prince in … yes, 1999!

Susan currently serves on numerous local and State Boards, such as the Pennsylvania Restaurant & Lodging Association and the Greater West Chester Chamber of Commerce, as well as Government Affairs Committees for the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry and Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce.

When she’s not pouring her heart into tourism initiatives, Susan spends her free time hiking with her husband of 42 years, pretending to be a stained-glass artist, and of course, going to her happy place, Longwood Gardens.

Thank you, Jenn and Susan, for your hard work, dedication, and the positive impact you make in your fields and communities. We appreciate everything you do!
