SUMMARY:Ways of Seeing\, Ways of Being
DESCRIPTION:5:30 PM - 7:00 PM Light Refreshments in the Henry Art Gallery Ways of Seeing\, Ways of Being is a multidisciplinary exhibition featuring historical ephemera\, wearable arts\, and contemporary photography. This Indigenous-led project explores how memory\, storytelling\, and perception shape our understanding of ourselves\, others\, and the world around us. Featuring the work of four artists\, the exhibition offers a layered narrative of Indigenous presence in the Philadelphia region\, rooted in cultural continuity\, family\, and intergenerational knowledge. Together\, these works invite visitors to reflect on how the stories we inherit and the ways we see the world shape who we are\, influencing how we live and what we leave for those who follow. \n7:00 PM - 8:00 PM Community Program in Musser Auditorium Join us in Musser Auditorium for a community program featuring: - A presentation by Joy Tonepahhote\, in which she shares the meaning behind her beadwork\, the significance of regalia\, and the music\, dances\, and stories carried through these art forms. - The Magic of Storytelling by Tchin\, Tchin brings audiences into the world of Indigenous story through his signature blend of humor\, historical\, and cultural knowledge. He shares narratives that illuminate the values\, teachings\, and lived experiences of Native peoples. The program will feature the Native Courting Flute. \nRSVP Here
