Laura Manion Writes Letter to the Editor on Housing, Public Transportation, and Workforce Issues
|
CCCBI President & CEO, Laura Manion, wrote a new opinion piece urging business leaders to weigh in on the housing crisis.
To afford the current, average list price, first-time buyers in Chester County must now earn an annual salary of $130,000 so that the cost of housing does not exceed 30% of their income.
You read that right.
When your employees cannot afford to buy their first home or their next, larger home as they expand their family, they may resort to moving to neighboring Delaware, Montgomery, or Lancaster counties.
When they grow tired of sitting in endless traffic on 202, Route 30 and 422, they may begin to look for a new job, with a more flexible work-from-home policy.

Bournelyf Special Camp is the true hidden gem of Chester County. Founded in 1980, the camp provides quality programs and educational opportunities to individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities.
Children and young adults are able to build confidence, improve social and communication skills, and enjoy fun physical fitness challenges among other activities throughout the summer.
CCCBI's Laura Manion was recently able to visit Bournelyf Special Camp, saying, "You can feel the deep-rooted community ties within minutes of entering the 7-acre property. The long-term commitment that campers and volunteer staff show makes this such a special place to be."
This fall, on October 28th, Bournelyf Special Camp will host their Annual Dick Vermeil Wine Tasting, one of their most anticipated fundraising events of the year! Mark your calendars and visit their website for updates!
