Legislative Update

Addressing Energy Generation and Usage

Two bills introduced in the Pennsylvania House aim to address the increasing mismatch between energy generation and use across the region. House Bill 2223, introduced by Representative Elizabeth Fiedler, would require electric utilities to evaluate the use of advanced transmission technologies (ATTs) on new and existing transmission lines. ATTs are hardware and software technologies that increase the capacity and efficiency of transmission lines through optimizing power flow and reducing line congestion. HB2223 would enable the Pennsylvania Utilities Commission(PUC) to deny a utility’s application for new transmission lines if it determines that ATTs could eliminate the need for new infrastructure.

House Bill 2264, introduced by Representative Nathan Davidson, addresses virtual power plant (VPP) technology. VPPs are collections of distributed energy sources, such as rooftop solar, battery storage, and smart appliances. When aggregated and managed, this technology can both provide energy to the grid and reduce demand. VPPs are intended to reduce the reliance on peaker plants, which provide energy to the grid at peak demand but are normally expensive to operate. HB2264 would provide financial incentives for customers to participate in utility-run VPP programs.

Catering With Purpose

Catering with Purpose was founded on a simple idea: great food can do more than feed a meeting, it can strengthen a community.  Founder John Montgomery started the company after spending time working in a small local restaurant and witnessing firsthand the long hours and challenges independent restaurant owners face every day.

At the same time, he saw the growing issue of food insecurity within our own community. He realized corporate catering could become a powerful way to help address both.

Based in Chester County, Catering with Purpose partners with local restaurants to provide professional corporate catering for board meetings, training sessions, and team events (among others). Every order is delivered warm, protected, and on time by a trusted team, never random drivers.

What makes the model unique is that 10% of every order is automatically donated to fight hunger locally, including support for the Chester County Food Bank.

In a county where 1 in 10 people experience food insecurity, each catering order becomes an opportunity to make a difference.

The impact is simple and powerful:

  • Corporate teams enjoy great food from local restaurants
  •  Local restaurant partners grow their businesses
  • Families in Chester County receive help through local food programs

One order. Three wins.
Since launching, Catering with Purpose has proudly served organizations such as Citadel Credit Union, which uses the service for training sessions, board meetings, and team events.

Clients also appreciate the flexibility of the model — allowing them to mix and match menus from multiple local restaurants in a single delivery, all coordinated through one professional service. Whether it’s a board meeting or a training day, Catering with Purpose ensures team meals are fresh, professional, and purposeful.
