We are thrilled to have an esteemed group of renowned consultants with us to share their insights and analyses on the upcoming elections, both in Pennsylvania and across the United States. With their extensive experience and deep understanding of the political landscape, our panelists will provide valuable predictions and perspectives on what we can expect in this crucial election year.

Please join us for a timely discussion with Hon. Alison Young of Red, White, & Blue Strategies and Adam Erickson of Princeton Strategies as we approach election season!

Hon. Alison Young is a tri-sector executive, having served in leadership roles in the government, corporate and social sectors. Her combination of idealism and pragmatism makes her a sought-after adviser on bridging the chasms of culture, incentives, and purpose that separate the three sectors. Alison is currently managing partner at RWB Strategies, a management consulting firm based in Philadelphia, PA.

Young founded RWB’s leadership training practice group and serves as an executive performance coach specializing in emotional intelligence. A former senior White House Official, Young served in the Bush Administration as Special Assistant to the President for service and civic engagement. Previously, Young was executive director of the Institute for Strategic Leadership at Drexel University and vice president for external affairs at the National Constitution Center. A leading scholar on effective public sector leadership, in 2017, Alison was named an Eisenhower Fellow and in 2020, was named a regional fellow for the National Review Institute. Young is currently a doctoral candidate at NYU with a research focus on the emotional intelligence of public sector leaders. A nationally recognized speaker and facilitator, Young regularly appears on TV nationally on Dan Abrams Live (NewsNation), and locally on Inside Story (6ABC).

Young was recently recognized by City and State PA for extensive philanthropy and volunteer work across the Commonwealth. She serves on the boards of the PA Conference for Women, America 250PA (America’s Semiquincentennial celebration in 2026), the Philadelphia Orchestra and Kimmel Center, Inc., and volunteers serving foster youth with CASA Philly.

Adam Erickson founded Princeton Strategies in 2016. Before starting the firm he worked on several high-profile political races, including campaigns for Congressman Frank Pallone, Congressman Charles Rangel, and Congressman Brendan Boyle. His expertise in managing, fieldwork, and fundraising produced high-level results, transforming political campaigns into winning structures. Adam’s work earned national attention, including the #1 Grassroots Campaign award from the Democratic Legislative Campaign Committee and was named as a Top 50 Political Consultant by City and State magazine.

Since founding Princeton Strategies Adam has led dozens of successful campaigns, flipped seats, and raised millions of dollars for clients. Most recently Princeton Strategies ran the fundraising program for Cherelle Parker for her 2023 victory to become Philadelphia 100th Mayor and first woman and first woman of color to be elected Mayor. Currently, Adam is managing Joe Salnero's congressional race in New Jersey.

Legislative Update

Pennsylvania is Open for Business

by Laura Manion, President & CEO of CCCBI

With our 24-hour news cycle, it’s easy to read about and then forget the vital work recently accomplished by the Pennsylvania General Assembly and the passage of a fiscal year 2024-2025 budget.

Legislators approached this year’s state budget process with clear goals, including respecting taxpayers, expanding opportunities for Pennsylvania families, and increasing educational opportunities responsibly.

Although this year’s budget negotiations were challenging, Senate Republicans, working with the Governor and a Democrat majority in the House, made significant progress toward these goals by reaching an agreement on a pro-growth, pro-jobs, pro-families plan that aggressively boosts economic development and job opportunities white protecting the Commonwealth’s Rainy Day Fund to hopefully counter any future budget shortfalls that often lead to tax increases.

In recent years, Chester County has struggled to attract and retain employers to provide quality job opportunities for residents despite our diverse industries of agriculture, education, financial services, healthcare, and life sciences.

This year’s budget makes major strides toward making our region more competitive by breaking down the barriers that have hindered job growth in the past.

The state’s tax structure has historically been a deterrent to business expansion, as Pennsylvania used to have one of the nation's highest Corporate Net Income Tax (CNIT) rates. The budget continues to phase down the CNIT, keeping us on track to take this tax rate from one of the nation’s highest to one of the lowest in the years ahead.

In addition, $400 million is included for the PA Strategic Investments to Enhance Sites (SITES) Program to ensure business sites are prepared for development right away. Pennsylvania has received over 100 applications requesting more than $236 million in funding as part of the initial PA SITES pilot program — demonstrating the need for more state investment in this year’s budget. Helping sites become “shovel ready” to attract businesses and good high-paying jobs is critical if we are to compete nationally and across the globe.

The budget also contains funding for the innovative Grow PA post-secondary education and career preparation plan, which offers scholarships to attract and retain young people to pursue high-demand careers and remain in Pennsylvania after graduation, helping Pennsylvania reverse its demographic decline. With an additional $25 million for career and technical education and $5 million for equipment grants, Pennsylvania, in partnership with GrowPA, can ensure the state’s workforce is ready to tackle the challenges facing the global economy in the years ahead.

Also included in the budget is the process of phasing out the State Police from the Motor License Fund and includes an additional $80.5 million in one-time dollars for mass-transit and a match amount to ensure more resources are available to help repair our roads and bridges. Ensuring our infrastructure is safe and able to support our numerous modes of transportation should be a top priority for every public servant.

Each of these reforms is important individually but taken together; they send a powerful message that Pennsylvania is ready to compete and bring new opportunities for growth and prosperity to our communities.
