The Chester County Chamber Foundation (CCCF) is thrilled to announce the acceptance of a $100,000 charitable donation from the American Water Charitable Foundation (AWCF).
CCCF is committed to supporting the mission of the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry, a section 501(c)(6) organization, by preserving and promoting healthy and sustainable commerce in Chester County for the benefit of all members of the community through programs and grant making that provides for youth leadership training, education, and career and workforce development.
Through the Chamber’s partnership with Pennsylvania American Water, this support will be used to support CCCF’s mission and goals, including the Youth Leadership Program (YLP).
The main objective of the YLP is to create exceptional opportunities for all students in Chester County, to prepare them for future careers, and to groom our next generation of community and business leaders. The program helps students create professional networks with industry and community leaders as well as form lasting friendships with other Chester County students. In addition to forming these worthwhile networks, the participants learn valuable skills for future careers and leadership positions. As our objective is career readiness, we not only concentrate on necessary skills such as resume/cover letter writing and communication, we also address the vital “soft skills” needed for future success.
Pennsylvania American Water, a subsidiary of American Water (NYSE: AWK), is the largest investor owned water utility in the state, providing high-quality and reliable water and/or wastewater services to approximately 2.4 million people.
AWCF offers a variety of grant opportunities year-round that focus on:
- Clean water, conservation, environmental education, climate variability, and water-based recreation.
- Career readiness, financial and business literacy, positive youth development, mentoring, and life skills to help prepare future leaders of tomorrow.
- STEM-focused curricular and extracurricular programs to provide underserved students access to high-quality learning they need to succeed.
“As a current Chamber board member, and past Foundation board member, I have seen firsthand CCCF’s contributions in developing our region’s future leaders and championing overall workforce development,” said Kara Rahn, Senior Manager of Government Affairs, Pennsylvania American Water. “We are honored to play a role in keeping that momentum.”
Thank you Pennsylvania American Water!
