Small Business Awards Breakfast

On Wednesday, CCCBI held the 2024 Small Business Awards Breakfast to honor Penn Oaks Golf Club, Bournelyf Special Camp and VISTA Today.

Professionals from businesses of all size across the region gathered to network before Keynote Speaker, Tom Sullivan, Vice President of Small Business Policy at the U.S. Chamber, took the stage. Working with the U.S. Chamber’s nationwide network, Sullivan harnesses the views of small businesses and translates that grassroots power into federal policies that bolster free enterprise and reward entrepreneurship.

He also runs the U.S. Chamber’s Small Business Council, engaging the exclusive group of 100 Chamber members on a regular basis to increase small business input and involvement in Chamber activities.

“The small businesses of Chester County drive our economy and the Chamber’s membership,” said Laura Manion, President & CEO of CCCBI. “It is a privilege to recognize and celebrate the success of this year’s honorees.”

Thank you to our honorees, friends, members, and our sponsors who made this celebration possible!

Thank you Sponsors!

Abel Brothers Towing, AEONRG, Brumbaugh Wealth Management, Comcast, Fulton Bank, Hankin Group, Kreischer Miller, Lamb McErlane, M&T Bank, Rainer & Company, Stephano Slack, and United Way of Chester County!

Legislative Update

Democrats Hold House Majority Following Bucks County Special Election

On Tuesday, a special election to replace PA Representative John Galloway (D) was held in the 140th state House district in Bucks County, following his retirement after Galloway won a race for Magisterial District Judge in November of 2022.  Galloway’s resignation brought the House balance back to a dead even 101-101.

Democratic candidate, Jim Prokopiak, won the race against Republican Candace Cabanas, giving the Democrats back a 1 seat majority which they have essentially held since the 2022 election.  Prokopiak is an attorney and serves on the Pennsbury School Board as well as the Bucks County Redevelopment Authority.

This year will also see the full House of Representatives and half of the PA Senate up for election. Candidates had to file paperwork by this week to run for office with several members of the General Assembly already announcing they are not seeking re-election or are running for a different office.
