Chester County Chamber Classic
|
Tuesday marked another fabulous Chester County Chamber Classic, our annual golf outing!
"The Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry's annual golf outing is more than just a great day on the course," said Zeb Davenport of West Chester University. "It offers leaders from businesses of all sizes a unique opportunity to network, build relationships, and enjoy great food and fun in one place."
This signature event, presented by Constellation, welcomed over 100 golfers to Applebrook Golf Club here in Malvern. The outing provided the perfect opportunity for members, business leaders, and guests from across the region to connect and network while enjoying a fun day on the course. From the first tee to the final putt, there was plenty of camaraderie and excitement throughout the day.
"Bravo to the entire CCCBI Team for putting on yet another excellent event at Applebrook," said Jared Utz of Mid Penn Bank. "Everyone in my foursome commented not only on the quality of the course and the way we were treated during the round, but the incredible evening reception that followed. There were lots of folks representing the CCCBI family gathered afterwards for an incredible evening of food (lobster!), cocktails and professional networking. I cannot wait for next year!"
|
Throughout the day, golfers enjoy the picturesque course with specialty giveaways from Precision Pro Golf, the chance to win longest drive, closest to the pin and a hole-in-one prize from Lexus of Chester Springs.
"I had a fantastic time out on the course with my foursome—the weather and conditions couldn't have been better, and that surf & turf dinner was incredible!" said Teresa Glass of Johnson Kendall Johnson. "Winning the longest drive was a fun bonus, but the real highlight is always connecting with both new and familiar faces. After more than 10 years of being a member, CCCBI remains one of the absolute best places to build relationships and support our local community!
Following the outing, even more guests joined us for the famed surf and turf dinner on Applebrook's patio. In addition to the premier networking opportunities, this year featured a bourbon tasting from Amanda Blevins of Blevins Sommelier Services and gorgeous bouquets of flowers from Matlack Florist for our golfers to take home at the end of the night.
"Once again, the CCCBI Golf Outing was fantastic. One of the things I enjoy most about this event is the opportunity to walk the course, spend quality time getting to know people, and build relationships with everyone in the group, including the caddies," said Christopher Everett of Truist. "Topping off the day with great conversation, cold drinks, a wonderful meal, and flowers for the Mrs. made for a truly exceptional experience. Thank you for all that you and your team do to deliver one of Chester County's premier events year after year. It is always a highlight of the summer and a great reflection of the strong business community you've helped foster."
We appreciate the support of our participants, partners and sponsors who made this event possible!

CCCBI beat the rain this morning with Yoga in the Park!
An intimate group of Members visited our headquarters in East Goshen Park to connect with fellow professionals through mindfulness and physical activity in nature. Regardless of experience level, everyone was able to participate and grow with the help of our instructor and new member, Julie Miller Yoga.
"Clapping so loudly for CCCBI for thinking outside of the box for networking events," said Julie. "I was truly honored to offer yoga at this morning’s session with the Women Influencing Business Network."
Julie shares her gifts with the community through Julie Miller Yoga. She is a Registered Children's Yoga Teacher, Experienced Registered Yoga Teacher at the 200 hour-level, certified Prenatal Yoga Instructor, and Reiki Level I. "Julie was amazing!" said Christina Croft of West Chester University. "The session was so motivating and so inspiring. It was a great way to start my day. And I met some amazing women as well. Thank you CCCBI!"
After a grounding 45 minute session, our attendees were able to enjoy some delicious coffee from Travelin' Tom's Coffee Truck. They served everything from fresh-brewed coffee and tea, to energizing drinks and iced beverages.
Thank you to our instructor Julie, Travelin' Tom's and everyone who joined us for this fantastic morning!

Executive Order Restricts Data Center Development
|
Governor Josh Shapiro signed an Executive Order on Tuesday imposing new restrictions on data center development, reversing his administration’s early support of the projects. In a statement accompanying the Order, Governor Shapiro said “Over the past year, I’ve listened to the people of Pennsylvania – and I’ve heard directly from many residents across our Commonwealth who are concerned about what data center development could mean for our communities, our environment, and our utility bills. My message to data center developers is clear: if you can’t agree to our strict requirements and get the community where you want to build to say ‘yes,’ you’re not going to have the Commonwealth’s support either.”
The Order mandates compliance with the Governor’s Responsible Infrastructure Development (GRID) Standards. Shapiro first proposed GRID earlier this year as a voluntary framework tied to tax incentives, but they were never approved by the State Senate.
The Order also:
- Requires data centers to be GRID-compliant to access the existing state sales tax credit for data centers,
- Prohibits state agencies from entering into nondisclosure agreements with data center projects,
- Instructs the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) to create a public map of all proposed data center projects,
- Requires data centers to report annually on total energy consumption, total water consumption, and measures to protect the environment, and
- Removes all data centers from the fast-track permitting process.
It additionally instructs the Special Counsel for Energy Affordability to advocate before the Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission (PUC) for rules that would:
- Ensure data centers are shut off before other customers in a grid emergency,
- Charge data centers, not ratepayers, for any increase in energy costs, and
- Force data centers to pay for the costs of connecting with the electrical grid, including any infrastructure upgrades.
A June poll by Quinnipiac University revealed that 74% of registered Pennsylvania voters would oppose a data center in their communities. There are over 100 speculative data center projects across the state.
