Governor Josh Shapiro Signs Executive Order 2023-18 |
|
|
|
On Tuesday, Governor Josh Shapiro signed an Executive Order to increase opportunities for small and small diverse businesses to compete for state contracts, make the Commonwealth procurement process more accessible, and take actionable steps to help small businesses and small diverse businesses grow, succeed, and create good-paying jobs.
This Executive Order directs the Department of General Services (DGS) to coordinate efforts with other agencies to increase their total operational spend and participation in the Commonwealth’s Small Business Reserve (SBR) program, foster more competitive procurement, and increase the amount of money that goes into the hands of small and small diverse businesses.
The Executive Order also establishes the Pennsylvania Advisory Council for Inclusive Procurement (PACIP) to advise Commonwealth agencies on ways to make state contracting opportunities more inclusive. The PACIP will be chaired by Lieutenant Governor Austin Davis, with DGS Secretary Reggie McNeil and the Department of Transportation (PennDOT) Secretary Mike Carroll serving as co-vice chairs.

Dom Fixes Bikes |

It's not every day that a teenager starts their own business!
Dom Fixes Bikes aims to "provide a bike to anyone who is passionate about riding regardless of age, race, gender, or financial ability," said Dom Pecora, the fourteen year old business owner.
Dom's journey began in 2020 when he was ten years old and wanted to buy his dream mountain bike. As a way to raise the funds he needed, Dom started fixing bikes for friends and family members. It wasn't long after that when he had the idea to donate bikes as a thank you to the community that had made his dream come true.
Since 2020, he has continued to fix bikes on a larger scale, use proceeds to make bike donations, and organize fundraisers and campaigns like the famous Christmas Campaign.
One thing helping him achieve this goal is the opening of Dom Fixes Bikes (DFB) in Malvern! This location will provide bike repairs or tune ups, and offer a place to donate gently used bikes that can be given to others as part of Dom's #100bikesayear pledge, a campaign that launched the minute his 501c3 was official.
Join Dom and CCCBI at his Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Ceremony on Saturday, September 16th at 12:00pm to celebrate DFB and support his mission to share his passion for bikes with others.

The Inaugural Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry Invitational at Downingtown Country Club will run from Monday, October 2nd through Sunday, October 8th!
As part of the Amateur Golf Society of America Tour, CCCBI Members will have the opportunity to participate in the tournament throughout the week and network with other professionals from Chester County!
Each week-long AGS Tour event is hosted Monday through Sunday at a participating public course, with more than 60 locations throughout Southeastern PA, NJ and Delaware |
