An Annual Golf Outing to Remember
|
On Tuesday, CCCBI hosted the 2024 Annual Golf Outing at Applebrook Golf Club with Presenting Sponsor WSFS Bank.
Our 100 golfers were able to enjoy lunch, sponsored by IBEW 654, after receiving two giveaways at registration. Each player took home a sleeve of golf balls from Citizens Bank and a Precision Pro GPS Golf Speaker.
Applebrook's pristine course challenged players, especially on the 9th hole where a hole in one could win a Lexus RX 350, courtesy of Lexus of Chester Springs.
After 18 holes, players and other guests came in to enjoy the legendary Surf & Turf Dinner. The dinner isn't just delicious, it offers a perfect setting for networking with professionals from across the county. With CCCBI Members and Non-Members in attendance, there were countless new connections made throughout this wonderful day.
As a final show of appreciation for our attendees, everyone left with a beautiful bouquet of fresh flowers from Matlack Florists and hand-rolled cigars from the Mobile Cigar Lounge, sponsored by Abel Brothers Towing.
Events like these are a success because of our supporters. From our attendees to our sponsors, participation from our Membership helps us continue our mission to strengthen our business community.

AG Setting Up New Unit to Prosecute Organized Retail Theft
by Robert Swift, Capitolwire.com
|
Funds to create a prosecutor’s office dedicated to organized retail theft are included in the 2024-25 state budget months after a law creating the unit was enacted last December.
The budget provides $2.7 million to the Office of Attorney General to create an office of deputy attorney general for organized retail crime theft under the attorney general’s office.
The $2.7 million reflects the cost estimate of a fiscal note for Act 42 of 2023 which authorizes the office and toughens penalties for retail theft, Jim Brugger, a spokesman for Sen. David Argall, R-Schuylkill, who authored the law, said. Argall sponsored Senate Bill 596 after a wave of store looting in Philadelphia last year.
The fiscal note estimates start-up costs for the office at $371,000 and operating costs at $2.4 million annually. The money covers the costs of five prosecuting attorneys covering different geographic regions with two special agents under them for a total of 15 individuals, said Jennifer Crandall, spokeswoman for Attorney General Michelle Henry. The process to set up the office is underway, she added.
The law creates an offense of organized retail theft defined as a partnership of type of association engaged in retail theft with the intent to resell the merchandise.
The law also upgrades penalties for organized retail theft – a felony of the third degree if the value of the stolen merchandise is between $2,500 and $9,999, a felony of the second degree if the merchandise value is between $10,000 and $49,999 and a felony of the third degree is the merchandise value is at least $50,000 or more.
Argall said retail theft has targeted both large retailers and small businesses in recent years.
