Business After Hours with General Warren

Last Thursday evening marked another annual Business After Hours at the historic General Warren.

Over 100 Members joined us for a spectacular evening of conversation, connection and fun. This BAH has become one of our most-anticipated events, not just for the great atmosphere, but because our Board of Directors joins us to network with their fellow Members and business owners!

Events like these are always the perfect opportunity to put faces to names, make new connections, and strengthen existing relationships—all while enjoying a great evening together.

Thank you to our hosts and to everyone who joined us for a spectacular evening! We’re already looking forward to next year!

Walk & Talk in the Park

We had a wonderful time walking and talking in the park yesterday morning!

"I really love the format of a smaller group…it's perfect for my social battery," said Karen Moffitt of Little Miss Moffitt. "The relaxed pace allows us to really take some deep dives into the common challenges we all face, regardless of our business. What a great way to start the day!"

CCCBI's Walk & Talk sessions are the perfect way to get your steps in while connecting with your fellow Members. No matter your pace or your industry, there's plenty to talk about on a stroll through the beautiful East Goshen park.

Special thanks to everyone who joined us!

Legislative Update

Powering Pennsylvania's Future

A Conversation on Energy Policy and Innovation

Affordable, reliable energy is the foundation of Pennsylvania’s economy. Every manufacturer, small business, hospital, school and household depends on it, and Pennsylvania’s ability to attract new investment hinges on having abundant, dependable power.

The Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry, in partnership with Constellation and Energy Transfer, is proud to host a timely discussion with key leaders shaping the future of PA's energy infrastructure.

Join us on Thursday, October 29th at the Desmond Hotel for an informative breakfast with guest speakers:

  • Stephen DeFrank - Chairman, Pennsylvania Public Utilities Commission
  • Senator Gene Yaw - Chair, Environmental Resources & Energy Committee
  • Kate Harper - Co-Chair, Energy Future PA

We look forward to Senator Yaw’s insights on what is happening in the Legislature to advance the availability of affordable, reliable energy for business in Pennsylvania.

Pennsylvania Utility Commission Chairman, Stephen DeFrank, will break down what is happening at the Commission, which regulates our electric rates. Attendees will hear firsthand about proceedings to consider what should happen with large load (data center) rates and the May issuance of a large load model tariff. In addition, earlier this year, the Governor announced a grant to study electric transmission upgrades needed in Pennsylvania. We look forward to hearing updates as that project is underway.

Former state Representative Kate Harper, co-chair of Energy Future PA, will weigh-in with current initiatives and forward-thinking plans to aid in positioning PA as a leader in the energy industry via electricity supply, gas transmissions and more.

Hope + Door

Sometimes all it takes is one financial emergency — a medical bill, a job loss, an unexpected repair — for a hardworking family to fall behind on rent and face eviction. That is the moment Hope+Door was built for.

Founded in 2021 by Dan and Steve Berger of Berger Rental Communities, Hope+Door grew out of decades in property management, where the Bergers kept encountering the same story: responsible families who had paid rent on time for years, hit one rough patch, and had nowhere to turn.

Hope+Door provides up to two months of rental assistance to families with children at risk of losing their home, aiming to bring their balance to zero so they can stay put. Since launching, it has helped more than 350 families across 32 states with over $900,000 in direct assistance.

What sets Hope+Door apart is timing. Rather than stepping in after a family has already lost their home, Hope+Door intervenes early, at the moment a short-term setback can still be resolved before it becomes a long-term crisis, meaning fewer disrupted school years for kids, fewer job losses for parents, and less strain on local shelters and emergency services.

Each year, this work is fueled in part by The Grande Give, a benefit bringing together friends from across the multifamily housing industry for an evening of food, entertainment, and fundraising. This year's event is Saturday, November 21 at Del Frisco's Double Eagle Steakhouse in Philadelphia, and sponsorships are open now for Chamber members who would like to get involved.

We are proud this mission is rooted right here in Chester County. Learn more at hopeanddoor.org, or sponsor The Grande Give at thegrandegive.org.
