Youth Leadership Program Visits CTDI

On Tuesday, January 23rd, the Chester County Chamber Foundation's Youth Leadership Program visited CTDI

Over 50 students were able to tour the offices, labs, and workshops alongside experts within the Communications, Culture and Engineering fields. This opportunity to experience the impact of CTDI as a full-service, global engineering, repair and logistics company was truly unique.

Students agreed, the best part of the day was hearing directly from President & CEO - Leo Parsons and Vice President, Engineering & Innovation - Matt Parsons. The pair took over an hour out of their day to introduce the YLP students to CTDI and the different career paths within their organization.

Thank you CTDI!

Bournelyf Special Camp

Bournelyf Special Camp (pronounced “born-a-leaf”) was founded in 1980 as a service project of the Church of the Loving Shepherd, a congregation welcoming people of all religious backgrounds, and one of its congregants, Jim Scanlon. In 1989 the camp was incorporated as a Pennsylvania nonprofit organization with its own Board of Directors and by-laws, drawing parents and community members to the board in order to support the broadening of its programs and to expand the camp’s ability to serve the community.

Bournelyf Special Camp operates as a summer day camp in West Chester, PA, with programs involving outdoor recreational activities with a focus on lifetime wellness, and community outreach, in conjunction with developing communication and social skills for individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities. We promote the development of each camper’s potential through participation in an exciting variety of challenging outdoor activities. In addition to our summer day camp we also offer alumni vacations during the summer months and two events during each non summer month.

Serving individuals with mild to moderate intellectual & developmental disabilities ages 8 through adulthood, our mission is to develop participants’ abilities by helping them build confidence, improve social and communication skills, and become more physically fit through challenging, but achievable physical activities and by interaction with others.

Bournelyf relies on the community to offer authentic experiences for our campers. Our campers give back by educating the community on inclusion and acceptance.  Camp day programming as well as vacations and monthly events incorporate outings in the community. Experiencing events and venues as well as practicing everyday living skills.  Whether it is the local community or a community we are calling home for a week during vacation. Bournelyf also reaches out to the community to help support the many programs we offer through both financial gifts as well as gifts of time through volunteer opportunities.

CCCBI will be honoring Bournelyf Special Camp with the Nonprofit of the Year Award at the 2024 Small Business Awards Breakfast

"Bournelyf is elated to be honored as the Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry Nonprofit of the Year," said Courtney Zimmerman, Executive Director of Bournelyf Special Camp. "We look forward to continuing and expanding our involvement with the chamber in the years to come."
