Walk & Talk

First thing on Tuesday morning, CCCBI hosted our very first Walk & Talk in the park! It was a lovely morning with friendly faces, warm sunshine, and lively conversations.

"We had a good small core group for our first Walk and Talk and I found it very intriguing where everyone's conversation went, from everyone's personal relationships to business relationships," said Jarrod Rabatin, CCCBI's Director of Member Engagement. "I personally had a great experience being able to listen, understand and chime in on multiple different group conversations throughout the hour long walk."

The biggest takeaway from this new style of networking? Intimate groups like this make it easy to truly connect!

Thank you to all who came out to participate, keep an eye out for our next Walk & Talk this Summer.

Summer Solstice

Last night marked the Chester County Chamber Foundation's Annual Summer Solstice Celebration!

This year’s event, presented by Valley Creek Productions, welcomed nearly 150 chamber members, friends of the foundation and community partners for an evening of Mediterranean Magic at the beautiful Loch Aerie Mansion.

The ballroom was filled with undeniable energy, stemming from this event’s history as a welcoming celebration. Among our guests were the Chester County Chamber Foundation Board of Directors, CCCBI Board of Directors and two students who recently graduated from the Youth Leadership Program (YLP).

YLP is a yearlong journey, helping high school students create professional networks with their peers, industry experts, community leaders and local businesses. In addition to forming these worthwhile networks, the participants learn valuable skills for future careers and leadership positions. These exceptional opportunities are made possible with the support of our participating host businesses and our program sponsor, Pennsylvania American Water.

“Summer Solstice 2026 was a beautiful event!” said Kathleen B. Rosano, the Foundation Board Chair and Senior Relationship Manager, Commercial Lending at TD Bank. “The business community came together to enjoy each other's company as well as network and support the primary mission of the Chester County Chamber Foundation – the Youth Leadership Program. We are so happy that our business community rallies together to support this great program every year.”

This event featured refreshments from John Serock Catering, refreshing lemon drop martinis as the signature cocktail, as well as a wine pull and silent auction with items and experiences donated by the Chester County business community. Thank you to all who attended this memorable evening, our auction donors, volunteers and our generous sponsors.

Legislative Update

Tracked Federal Legislation Overview

- Affordability Is the Defining Issue and Neither Party Has Closed the Deal

Fifty-three percent of Americans say the cost of living is the worst they can remember, and nearly half blame Trump. But Democrats haven't consolidated around a message, as incumbents from Iowa's Miller-Meeks district to California's Central Valley face challengers running almost entirely on healthcare and cost of living. Republican strategists believe an Iran war resolution could reset the economic narrative, but with gas prices projected to stay elevated for months, Oklahoma's minimum wage ballot fight is a reminder that voters across the spectrum are looking for answers neither party is fully delivering.

- Redistricting Is the Biggest Structural Variable of the Cycle

Republicans have enacted new maps in seven states so far and project gains of up to 14 seats, while Democrats eye offsetting pickups in California and blue states. Legal battles in Alabama, Florida, and Louisiana will determine whether the maps hold, and both parties are already war-gaming 2028. The clearest proof of redistricting's power came in Texas, where two Democratic incumbents were forced into the same seat, ending Al Green's two-decade career. Louisiana's erasure of Cleo Fields' district and Georgia's pending special session show the effort is still accelerating, even as courts push back.

- The Infrastructure of Political Information Is Under Pressure

Democrats' path to a Senate majority runs through states that are proving messier than expected. In Maine, Graham Platner holds a consistent polling lead over Susan Collins but recent personal controversy has begun moving prediction markets. In Alaska, a second Dan Sullivan in the race risks siphoning votes from the incumbent in what was already a tighter-than-expected contest. In Texas, Ken Paxton's primary win over John Cornyn, fueled by a last-minute Trump endorsement and a deep grassroots base, shifted Cook's rating to lean Republican, but Paxton enters the general with a proven three-statewide-win record and Trump's full backing in a state that hasn't elected a Democrat to the Senate in decades. The map is fluid, but still Republicans have more advantages to fall back on.

- Supreme Court Blows Lid Off Redistricting

A full-scale redistricting battle is underway following the Supreme Court’s rollback of key Voting Rights Act protections, opening the door for aggressive mid-decade map changes. Republicans are moving quickly in Southern states like Louisiana, Alabama, and Tennessee to redraw districts ahead of November, while Democrats are preparing countermeasures in blue states, many of which may not take effect until 2028. With only a handful of seats likely to decide the House, even incremental changes could make all the difference. Ongoing litigation, however, means the final battlefield remains fluid and increasingly dependent on court decisions.

- Energy Costs and Economic Anxiety Become a Political Liability

Rising energy prices tied to the Iran conflict are becoming a growing political challenge, with 60% of Americans saying military action has increased recession risk and majorities reporting real changes to spending and travel behavior. Financial strain is rising across the electorate, including among key Republican constituencies like non-college white voters and GOP-leaning independents. Just 21% of voters expect gas prices to improve over the next year, reinforcing a pessimistic outlook. The trajectory raises the stakes for Republicans, as the midterms risk becoming a referendum not just on foreign policy, but on economic stewardship and cost-of-living pressures.

- AI Enters as a New Political Battleground: Down Ballot Elections

Artificial intelligence is quickly moving from a niche policy issue to a major political force, with well-funded groups stepping into legislative races to back candidates aligned with their vision for AI’s future. Much of the activity is focused on state and down-ballot contests, where decisions on data, infrastructure, and regulation are being made, and where outside spending can have a real impact. Competing factions are already forming, with pro-growth and more regulatory approaches shaping candidate support. As AI policy becomes more tangible to voters and tied to local impacts like energy use and jobs, it is poised to become a more visible and contested issue heading into November.
