Laura Manion Appointed to America250 Chester County Commission

CCCBI President & CEO, Laura Manion, has been appointed to the America250 Chester County Commission.

In November of 2021, the county established the 250th Commission to help build the foundation for celebrating the nation’s 250th anniversary and to prepare specific steps for celebrating the nation’s heritage. It is expected to help gather information about the county’s history; assess historic site capacity; develop an interpretive framework for historic tourism; prepare county-wide heritage marketing; tailor an educational curriculum for Chester County schools; organize programs and events for the 250th celebration; and identify financial support for the 250th celebration and related tourism efforts.

"I am honored to accept the appointment to the America250PA Chester County Commission. As a lifelong Chester County resident, there is limitless potential to increase our visibility, share our story, and grow our economy. This opportunity to celebrate our nation and our community will undoubtedly mark a historic surge in tourism, education, and pride," said Manion.

CCCBI looks forward to supporting the Commission and the positive impact America250 will have on Chester County.

One Week Left Until CCCBI Celebrates Annual Awards Dinner

We are one week away from CCCBI's 2023 Annual Awards Dinner! Join us to honor the Executive of the Year, Maureen Tomoschuk!

Maureen serves as the President & CEO of Community Volunteers in Medicine - CVIM, which provides free medical and dental care, behavioral health services, and medications for low-income, uninsured workers and their families.

Under Maureen’s leadership, it has become a pillar of compassion and dedication to the Chester County Community. They have seen an increase in the number of patients seen and the number of volunteers that contribute to the organization’s success. Despite the operating budget being supported entirely by a generous community of philanthropic individuals, foundations, corporations, faith-based organizations and civic groups, Maureen has led CVIM to financial stability in the pursuit of providing compassionate and quality healthcare.

CCCBI is excited to honor Maureen for her hard work, dedication, and continued leadership as the Executive of the Year!

Employing & Engaging Parents Survey

PA Chamber of Business and Industry and the Pennsylvania Early Learning Investment Commission have launched the Employing and Engaging Parents Survey to explore cross-sector, innovative opportunities to improve business outcomes while enhancing solutions for families.

This brief survey will collect information about how your organization and employees may be affected by childcare-related challenges. The questions are designed to be answered by senior leaders responsible for addressing employee challenges in any business, organization, and agency in PA.

In a September 2023 survey by the Start Strong PA Campaign, 721 Pennsylvania child care providers reported nearly 2,400 staff vacancies resulting in 935 closed classrooms impacting nearly 26,000 children. Since the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic, nearly 2,200 child care programs across the Pennsylvania have closed permanently.

Additionally, this survey and a series of listening sessions with providers will help Start Strong PA set its policy recommendation for the 2024-25 budget proposal.

Please complete this survey! This is crucial to making investments in our future workforce and our economy.

Little Bear Pediatric Dentistry

CCCBI is excited to welcome Little Bear Pediatric Dentistry to our membership!

On Wednesday, our Director of Membership, Laura Ellis, hosted a ribbon cutting ceremony at Little Bear's Grand Opening. She was joined by several chamber friends and community members for an evening of celebration.

"It was great to see the local community and Chamber friends gather to support Little Bear Pediatric Dentistry," said Ellis. "This is a brand new space were kids will feel comfortable receiving dental care, and parents will feel confident in the quality of care."

The overwhelming support is no surprise, especially after speaking with Little Bear's owner, Dr. Nuthyla Skuja. "At Little Bear Pediatric Dentistry, parents, children, and team members feel welcomed-not judged- no matter what their needs may be," said Skuja.

The practice was built with the intention of cultivating meaningful relationships with patients, staff, and the community to better understand their needs and provide care, guidance, and support from start to finish.
