Roundtable with Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman
|
The Chester County Chamber of Commerce was excited to host a roundtable discussion with Senate Majority Leader Joe Pittman (R-Indiana) and members from various nonprofit organizations, associations, and businesses at the Chamber offices.
The Senator was recently elected as Majority Leader by his peers for the 2022/2023 Legislative Session. His duties include overseeing the legislative agenda, developing policies and strategies, and playing a key role in floor debates. There is also role in negotiating issues with the Governor and House of Representatives which will be especially important due to the changing dynamics in the House and new Shapiro Administration. Pittman first elected to the Senate in 2019 previously chaired the Senate Urban Affairs and Housing Committee.
Chamber members had the opportunity to discuss with Leader Pittman on various topics:
- The Commonwealth’s surplus and rainy day fund numbers
- Public transportation
- The future of Electric Vehicles (EV’s)
- Energy and a Regional Greenhouse Gas Initiative (RGGI) update
- Permitting reform
- The further reduction of the Corporate Net Income Tax and tackling the death/inheritance tax
- The increase in federal funding to local and state entities throughout and post-pandemic
Of great interest was the recent court ruling regarding PA education funding, as well as how to retain students in Pennsylvania after graduation from our colleges and universities throughout the Commonwealth. ,
Open lines of communication with Senator Pittman and other legislative leaders are important for our members, since policies in the state legislature, especially regarding tax implications and proper funding tied to the state, are of direct impact to our businesses and non-profits. If a negotiations stall and a state budget does not pass on-time, many not-for-profits, particularly those in the public education and human service sectors, feel the effect immediately.
The Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry prides itself on engaging our elected officials and advocating for our members, as well as providing education on these issues. The Chamber staff and Board look forward to working with Senator Pittman and our county delegation to advance pro-business policies.

Congratulations on your retirement, Janet Moran!
|
It is with mixed emotions that we announce the retirement of our colleague, Janet Moran, effective March 31, 2023.
Janet has over 40 years in Human Resources, 11 years of that experience at Krapf. She came to us from being the head of HR for Catholic Health East, New Jersey and prior to that, Campbell Soup Company. She moved from South Jersey to West Chester, PA after taking the VP of Human Resources position with Krapf. Janet initiated the HR technology infrastructure to house and update employee credentials, modernized the Human Resources Management System to assist with compliance and employee outreach, and introduced an applicant tracking system. In addition, Janet helped create employee and leadership development, including Krapf University and Krapf Leadership Summits. She selected and implemented online training – especially during the first year of the COVID pandemic. She was essential in integrating acquisitions and transferring employees and knowledge in divestitures.
In addition to the regular Krapf business, Janet volunteered for Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry - Women Influencing Business Committee, Chester County Workforce Development Board, Philadelphia Society of People and Strategy Membership Committee and Beacon Networking for Life Governance Committee. Janet is a golfer and she and husband, Jack Worrall are moving to Florida to enjoy that activity year-round. There are lots of travel adventures planned.
If you care to send a note to Janet, please mail it to the attention of Anne Taylor, Krapf Group, 1030 Andrew Drive, West Chester, PA 19380, or email a message to ataylor@krapfbus.com. Janet would love to hear from you.
Krapf Group, with headquarters in West Chester, PA, is now in its fourth generation of family leadership and has been providing the best, safest and most efficient school transportation for over eighty years. Operating school buses in four states, as well as nationwide motor coach service, and transit services in Pennsylvania, the Krapf name is synonymous with transportation excellence.
Chester County Chamber of Business and Industry would like to thank Janet for her commitment and dedication to the CCCBI Women Influencing Business Committee over the years. Congratulations and enjoy your retirement, Janet!
