CCCBI Celebrates Women's History Month
|
March is designated as Women's History Month, and CCCBI is taking this opportunity to celebrate our women-led Chamber staff!
This week, we're recognizing our Director of Membership, Laura Ellis.
CCCBI is THRILLED to have Laura Ellis as the primary resource for all things Membership! While the position remained vacant after Covid-19, Laura's arrival last June has helped the Membership come alive and truly thrive. Whether you're looking to join the Chamber or get more involved, she knows how to help you maximize this investment in your business and get set up for success!
In honor of Women's History Month, we asked Laura how the women in her life have played a role in her professional development. Here's what she had to say:

CCCBI Hosts State of the County
|
On Friday, March 22, 2024, the Chester County Chamber of Business & Industry held their Annual State of the County discussion at Penn Oaks Golf Club with Chester County Commissioners, Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz and Eric Roe. This renowned event, presented by Aqua America and Lamb McErlane PC, also honored Bobby Kagel with the prestigious J. Larry Boling Excellence in Local Government Award.
Residents of Chester County and neighbors throughout the region joined CCCBI to recognize the efforts of Bobby Kagel’s 22 years of public service. Ganley and Kichline presented Kagel with the award, which was established by the Chamber in cooperation with former State Senator Earl M. Baker to honor the legacy of Larry Boling, a person who typified the meaning of a dedicated public servant who excelled in his accomplishments on behalf of the public.
With the J. Larry Boling Award, Kagel received citations from Senator Carolyn Comitta and Chester County Commissioners Josh Maxwell, Marian Moskowitz and Eric Roe for his excellence in local government.
Audience questions ranged from America 250, housing for the next generations of Chester County workers and residents, open space, hospital updates and healthcare, including resources and programs for first responders, all of which were fielded by the commissioners and their staff members.
CCCBI was thrilled to once again host this dynamic discussion for its Membership and Chester County’s business community.

Bridge Collapse in Baltimore Results in Tragic Loss of Life and Trade Disruption
|
Early Tuesday morning, the Francis Scott Key Bridge in Baltimore was struck by a cargo ship departing the port. The impact of the ship caused the bridge to collapse, tragically leading to the loss of several lives.
All shipping traffic has been suspended until further notice. The port of Baltimore is an integral shipping center in our nation. Ships already docked in the port will be unable to depart and ships needing to enter the port are either being held back or re-directed.
This tragedy will have a major bearing on the supply chain and potentially the economy. As that is being determined, the Chamber mourns the loss of the two construction workers whose bodies have been recovered and the four workers still missing. We offer our condolences to the friends and families of all who who have been impacted due to the collapse.

"Starting in 2012, I worked at an agency in Philadelphia after college and freelanced on the side with lifestyle brand clients and then had enough to go off on my own.
Many of the clients that I work with are female founded. I love helping other entrepreneurs in their journey to success by helping them get the word out about their businesses."
