Business After Hours at the Beautiful AVE Malvern

On Tuesday, CCCBI held our August Business After Hours at the beautiful AVE Malvern.

Despite some heavy rain, Members and Non-Members alike joined us for a memorable evening at AVE. From the food and beverages to the setting, their spacious entryway and kitchen left guests ready for a return visit.

As always, it was a pleasure to witness our Membership making new connections and learning about new opportunities.

Special thanks to AVE Malvern for hosting and thanks to all who braved the heavy rains to attend!

Young Professionals Host Summer BBQ & Cornhole Tournament to benefit HEADstrong Foundation

Last night, CCCBI's Young Professionals hosted their third event of the year, a Summer BBQ and Cornhole Tournament!

This unique event welcomed over 60 guests from both CCCBI and Southern Chester County Chamber of Commerce's Young Business Leaders, giving these two groups an opportunity to network and meet other like-minded professionals.

Our attendees enjoyed a delicious spread from Farm Boy BBQ, drinks from Locust Lane Craft Brewery and Penns Woods Winery, some friendly competition during the cornhole tournament, and most importantly, a raffle for five prize baskets.

Why were our Young Professionals so excited about this raffle? Because all of the proceeds are being donated to the HEADstrong Foundation.

HEADstrong Foundation offers financial, residential, and emotional support to families affected by cancer. Their founder, Nicholas, recognized the scarcity of essential resources for families during their fight. The HEADstrong team is based in Philadelphia and works relentlessly to provide resources for patients and their families who are receiving specialized cancer care throughout the country.

As a Member of CCCBI, the YPs voted to recognize this impactful organization and honor their mission with a donation to support families effected by cancer.

On behalf of the Young Professionals, it is our privilege to give $560 to HEADstrong Foundation!

We are inviting our community to match this donation. Please email abby@chescochamber to learn more, or use the button below to support HEADstrong directly.

This event would not have been possible without our Young Professionals Committee, our partners at SCCCC, Farm Boy BBQ, special guests Chelsea Pohl from HEADstrong and Commissioners Eric Roe & Marian Moskowitz, and those who provided our raffle prizes: Greencastle Consulting, S&T Bank, Lavazza, VRA Realty, and Twin Valley Coffee.

Thank you to all who joined us for a stellar evening!

Legislative Update

Regulatory Reform Bill Incorporated into State Budget

In a significant move toward cutting government red tape, the state budget approved by the General Assembly included major regulatory reform efforts championed by Sen. Kristin Phillips-Hill (R-York).

As part of the comprehensive amendments to the state’s Fiscal Code, the measure includes an overhaul of the permitting process for land, air and water-related permits required by the Department of Environmental Protection (DEP) and county conservation districts for development.

“This is a major win for the future of our Commonwealth,” Phillips-Hill said. “By cutting through the red tape, we’re not only supporting our current businesses and communities, but also laying the groundwork for future growth and prosperity in Pennsylvania. I am tired of losing jobs and economic opportunity to other states because Pennsylvania’s regulatory delays are too burdensome and make us uncompetitive. This effort will ensure that, regardless of whoever occupies the governor’s mansion or serves in the legislature, Pennsylvania is always open for business.”

The measure – Streamlining Permits for Economic Expansion and Development (SPEED) Program – contains a sweeping overhaul to expedite the permitting process utilized by DEP and county conservation districts, including:

    • Expedited Permit Review by a Third-Party: Applicants will be able to utilize third-party entities approved by the state to expedite the review process for air, land and water permits issued by DEP and county conservation districts.
    • Permit Application Tracking System: Applicants will be able to check the status of their permits online, including processing times, review dates, and estimated time remaining for each phase.
    • Increased Accountability for DEP: The department will be held accountable for costs incurred by permit applicant for a priority review for failure of permit decision within allotted time period.

The language includes key elements from Senate Bill 350, sponsored by Sens. Phillips-Hill and Greg Rothman (R-Cumberland/Dauphin/Perry), which the Senate approved earlier this session with bipartisan support, as well as Gov. Josh Shapiro’s 2023 executive order.

“Growing our economy, creating new jobs, and putting Pennsylvania on a path to prosperity is not partisan, it’s commonsense. I am glad we were able to get this across the finish line,” Phillips-Hill added.
