Business After Hours at Jenkins Arboretum & Garden

Wednesday evening concluded the first half of our monthly networking event lineup!

We had a wonderful Business After Hours at Jenkins Arboretum & Gardens, a 48-acre botanical garden in Devon. Our guests were able to enjoy the  indoors with refreshments and a stunning art installation, as well as the outdoor deck, overlooking the entrance to the extensive walking trails.

From the vibrancy of spring azalea blooms to the contemplative architecture of tree branches in winter, there is always something to enjoy, discover, and learn at Jenkins.

Despite some highway traffic, we're so grateful that so many members joined us and the Jenkins team for a gorgeous night!

We'll Be Back

Our first six months of the year were packed with some amazing signature events, member meetings, thought-provoking discussions, multi-chamber collaborations and so much more.

As we step into the Summer, CCCBI is taking a week to recharge and come back energized for the second half of 2026!

Our office will be closed from Monday, June 29th to Friday July 3rd. The team will be back in action on Monday, July 7th.

We're wishing you and your loved ones a safe and happy Fourth of July weekend!

Legislative Update

Overview of Passed Bills

As budget negotiations continue in Harrisburg, multiple bills passed the Democrat-controlled House this week.

- HB 2224 Rep. Elizabeth Fiedler (D) Saving Taxpayers Money by Limiting Excessive Profits for Utility Monopolies was unanimously approved in the House on Monday. The bill would eliminate the 6.5% gross receipts tax on utility bills, saving consumers an estimated $1.7 billion, and would statutorily cap the amount Pennsylvania utilities are allowed to charge ratepayers. Under the current Public Utilities Code, utilities are allowed to charge such rates as to collect a “reasonable return,” but does not define reasonable. HB2224 would set the default return on equity at 2 percentage points above the 10-year US Treasury bond yield.

- HB2632 Closing EITC Reporting Gaps Closing EITC Reporting Gaps was passed by the House on Monday by a vote of 105-97. The bill would create increased reporting requirements for within Pennsylvania’s Educational Improvement Tax Credit (EITC) and Opportunity Scholarship Tax Credit (OSTC) programs. Beginning in 2027/28, these programs would be replaced with a new program that would target resources to students living in the area of low-achieving public schools, would increase transparency about how scholarship dollars are used, and would expand funding opportunities to include childcare costs. While supporters argue the bill brings much needed transparency to the programs, critics say that the bill cuts scholarship funding, restructures student eligibility, and reduces donor incentives.

- HB 2626 Rep. Nate Davidson (D) Banning Dynamic Pricing was passed by the House Consumer Protection, Technology, and Utilities Committee on Tuesday. The bill would prohibit dynamic pricing via electronic price tags. Found at retail stores, electronic price tags enable retailers to adjust the price of items in real time to react to certain stimuli, such as the time of day or weather. The bill now moves to the House floor.
