Members Helping Members

Who doesn't love a success story?

Two CCCBI Members met, collaborated and just shared their news with us.

IT Edge and Madi's on a Roll met through CCCBI at the West Chester University Women's Entrepreneurship Conference last fall.

Madi, who received a New Business Champions Grant from the Chester County Economic Development Council, was looking for a new web developer to get her website situated before the holidays. After connecting with Monica Ferguson of IT Edge at the conference, she found her answer.

"Madi came to our team in need of a comprehensive e-commerce and online ordering website for her homemade egg roll business in time for the Holidays," said Ferguson. "We designed a website compatible with her POS system so reporting was made easy for her. Her main goal was to keep the shopping and checkout process clean and smooth for each customer."

We could not be more excited to see these Member to Member success stories.

Legislative Update

Week One of America's 47th President

Donald Trump's inauguration as the 47th President of the United State took place on Monday January 20th. Upon taking office for the second time as President, Trump signed a flurry of Executive Orders within hours of his inauguration, fulfilling many of his key campaign promises. These executive actions reflect significant policy shifts across various domains. A sampling of his most anticipated Orders and their descriptions, as well as a link, can be found below.

Immigration and Border Security:

  • He declared a national emergency at the U.S.-Mexico border, aiming to halt illegal immigration. This action includes terminating programs that allowed migrants to enter the U.S. legally and canceling U.S. refugee programs. The Executive Order can be found HERE

Environmental Policies:

  • President Trump rescinded U.S. participation in the Paris Climate Accord, reversing the previous administration's commitment to international climate agreements. More information can be found HERE.

Federal Workforce and Government Efficiency:

  • He issued a federal hiring freeze and promoted full-time, in-person work for federal employees. Additionally, he created an advisory board led by Elon Musk to recommend federal spending cuts.  The Executive Order can be found HERE

Civil Service Reforms:

  • President Trump revived the "Schedule F" executive order, allowing for the replacement of nonpartisan civil servants with political appointees, potentially leading to a significant restructuring of the federal workforce. The Executive Order can be found HERE

The Chamber will continue to monitor these orders and policies in the coming weeks and asks our members to reach out to us with any comments or concerns.

Steven's Wings

When Erica Wright lost her brother Steven, a Desert Storm Navy veteran and beloved Philadelphia nurse, she channeled her grief into creating opportunities for local youth.

Steven's legacy of service and connection – from tending to wounded soldiers overseas to caring for patients across Philadelphia with his remarkable bedside manner – inspired the creation of Steven's Wings.

"My own journey began at 13 when I first traveled to Morocco, Spain, and Portugal through the College Access Program," Erica shares. "That experience sparked something in me – a travel bug, yes, but more importantly, it showed me a world of possibilities beyond my neighborhood. It shaped my goals and dreams. Steven always supported those dreams, and now we're paying that forward."

Through a partnership with AFS-USA, Steven's Wings will provide fully-funded two-week international immersion programs to high school students across Philadelphia and its five surrounding counties (Chester, Montgomery, Delaware, Berks, and Bucks). Starting in July 2025, selected students will embark on transformative journeys to Colombia, Spain, or Germany, complete with host family stays, cultural exploration, and leadership development.

Every financial barrier is removed – from passports and visas to flights and housing – allowing students to focus on the transformative experience rather than expenses. The inaugural class of global explorers will be the first of many to experience worlds beyond their neighborhoods.

"In the depths of grief, I wanted to create something positive," Erica explains. "Steven spent his life connecting with and serving others. Through these travel opportunities, we're continuing that mission – connecting young people to global experiences that can change the trajectory of their lives, just like it did for me."

With applications currently open for Summer 2025, Steven's Wings is actively building partnerships with school districts and businesses interested in supporting youth global education.
